HERONS

Herons

Herons are the result of an unhealthy admiration for the deeply unfashionable end of 80s synthpop, good melodies and primitivist slabs of sound.

Born of a wine-fuelled discussion with a DJ from 6music on where all the good synth records went, Herons are a collective endeavour with arpeggiated bass lines, ambient guitar textures, snappy snares and heavy kicks evoking the best of electronic pop music from the 1980s onwards.

It’s emphatically not synthwave, definitely not rock, but the kind of upbeat pop music with downbeat lyrics that will make you dance but also give you something to think about on the bus on the way home.

Herons are looking to make just one critically acclaimed, low-key pop album before transforming into a globe-straddling, cocaine-driven, megadollar-making, hit-machine that everyone will sneer at forever thereafter.

Devils Touch (EP), followed by an EP of alternate versions of our (and other people's) songs.

Album to follow in the summer.
